Mokabbir Khan.Elected MP of Sylhet-2 seat, Mokabbir Khan has said that he has given a letter to the speaker to take oath as per the decision of Dr. Kamal Hossain and Gano Forum.
He said, “Decision of Dr. Kamal is the decision of Gano Forum.”
However, Gano Forum’s executive president, advocate Subrata Chowdhury, said, “The party decision to refrain from taking oath remains; Mokabbir Khan has taken the decision to take oath by himself.”
Mokabbir has said that he has not had any discussion with BNP about taking oath.
He says, “We boycotted the election but did not boycott the victories in adverse situations. There is no room for rejection of the result in cases where the people voted properly.”
I will go to parliament to say that we boycotted the election due to widespread irregularities, he added.
Talking about the ousting of Sultan Mohammad Mansur, another elected MP, he said that Mansur was expelled because he defied party decision and took oath.
I have been a presidium member of Gano Forum for a long time and due to professional reasons have to stay in London though my political engagement has never faded, said Mokabbir.
“My victory is the victory for Gano Forum and democracy,”
Saying that in Sylhet -2 everyone voted for him, Mokabbir added, “Considering the wishes of the electorate of my area and the overall situation plus the desire of the party, I will do whatever is necessary.”
Subrata Chowdhury says, “The decision of our central committee to not take oath remains, if anyone decides to take oath then it’s a personal decision.”
