President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury Sunday clarified his remarks about the rise of the third political force.
Earlier on Saturday, Chowdhury said that the country could be saved from this disastrous situation if a ‘force’ could come to power and that power would be able to control both Awami League and BNP.
Chowdhury remarks drew huge attention among politicians.
Speaking to Bangla Tribune, the former president said, “I spoke about a third political force. (You journalists) write it down clearly, a third political force. We want to rise. We want a coalition to come to power.
“If our movement spreads throughout the country and we have enough seats in the House, then we can bargain with both the parties. We will make them promise that they will not torture any of our activists.”
Last December, Chowdhury led the formation of coalition consisting of Bikalpadhara Bangladesh, Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL), Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) and Nagorik Oikya.
When asked why he skipped the issue of BNP Chairperson Khalda Zia in his Saturday’s remarks, Chowdhury said that he did not talk about her due to strategic reasons but definitely he would address the issue in the next meting.
Citing Dr Kamal’s support to coalition, Chowdhury said, “We become a balancing factor if we make the collation more strong. Then, we will choose which party we will support.”
“Party that will promise of not carrying out arson and violence will get our support. If the party violates our conditions, the coalition will withdraw its support instantly,” said Chowdhury, who is chairman of the coalition.
