Mustain Billah gets JP's ticket for Kishoreganj-1 polls

Mustain BillahHM Ershad-led Jatiya Party, the opposition in House, has picked Mustain Billah to contest the election to Kishoreganj-1 parliamentary seat with its ticket.
Secretary General Moshiur Rahman Ranga signed the party nomination paper of Billah nominating him as the party candidate on Monday (Jan 28).
The ruling Awami League has picked its former general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam’s sister to run for on its ticket.
The nomination of Syeda Zakia Noor Lipi, a doctor by training, was confirmed on Saturday (Jan 26).
The constituency has no representative in parliament now after the death of Syed Ashraf, five days after he was reelected MP in the Dec 30 polls. He could not take oath due to illness.
On Jan 22, the Election Commission set Feb 28 as the voting day for the election to the Kishoreganj seat, which consisted of Sadar and Hossainpur upazilas.
The aspirants for the seat can submit their nomination papers until Jan 31. The deadline for nomination withdrawal is Feb 10 while the EC will scrutinise the papers on Feb 3.
