Gano Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain and its other leaders are seen at the party’s extended meeting in Dhaka on Saturday (Jan 5).Gano Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain says that the two leaders of his party, who won in 11th National Election, may take oath as lawmakers.
Addressing the media after an extended meeting of the party on Saturday (Jan 5), he said they are “thinking positively” on the issue.
Gono Forum candidate and former DUCSU Vice President Sultan Mohammad Monsur won as from Moulvibazar-2 with BNP’s ‘paddy sheaf’, while Gano Forum’s Mukabbir Khan won at Sylhet-2 with the party’s ‘rising sun’ symbol.
Dr Kamal’s remarks come a day after the BNP, with whom he forged the Jatiya Oikya Front alliance in October eyeing the polls, said its five candidates will not take their seats in parliament.
“We’ve rejected the election, but the way our two candidates came out successful in such an election through competition is their big achievement. So, we’re thinking positively about sending them to Parliament,” he said during the press conference on Saturday.
Dr Kamal, who leads the Jatiya Oikya Front as it convener, said he thinks the move will not create any problem with its ally BNP.
He, however, said the Jatiya Oikya front will remain intact to create pressure on the government.
Replying to a question, Dr Kamal said they may move the court over the election if they get the evidence of serious allegation of vote frauds.
