With just three days left for the voting in the national election, Jatiya Party chief HM Ershad has pulled out from the race in Dhaka-17 constituency.
He made the announcement on Thursday (Dec 27) before the media at his Baridhara residence in Dhaka.
Ershad is still contesting the polls from Rangpur-3 with his party's logo plough, but as the Awami League-led Grand Alliance's pick.
The special envoy to the PM told the media call that he will be extending his support to Awami League’s Dhaka-17 candidate former movie star Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque.
The former military dictator returned Dhaka on late on Wednesday (Dec 26) after over a two-week trip to Singapore, where the party said he had gone for medical purposes.
