The BNP has announced demonstrations for Wednesday across capital Dhaka after failing to secure police’s permission for a rally in front of the party headquarters.
On Sunday, the party said it has sought clearance for a rally at Naya Paltan for Monday as part of its series of demonstrations for the jailed chief’s release.
“The Dhaka Metropolitan Police made it clear late on Sunday that we will not be allowed to hold the rally,” senior leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told the media on Monday.
In protest, the party’s all units in Dhaka city will hold separate demonstrations on Wednesday, said Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi.
