The BNP has convened an urgent meeting of senior leaders after the High Court stayed the Gazipur City Corporation election.
Sources in the party said, the meeting at the party chief’s Gulshan offices is being attended by members of the policymaking National Standing Committee and several other senior leaders.
“We will hold a meeting in the evening, following which the party’s official reaction will come”, Nazrul Islam Khan, a standing committee member, told Bangla Tribune.
The BNP, which had sat out from the 2014 national election, has turned on a sharp eye on the court’s order of fencing the upcoming Gazipur city corporation election for three months.
Earlier in the day, the High Court bench stayed the polls after an initial hearing of a petition against redistricting of the Gazipur City Corporation.
