Supporters of several BNP leaders are continuing their protest in front of the party chief Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan offices in Dhaka as the party decided to axe them from the final list of nominees.
The angry supporters gathered outside their jailed chief’s offices in the capital from Sunday morning.
The party on Friday released the list confirming 206 candidates, but dropped many.Earlier on Saturday (Dec 8), supporters of former state minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milan, locked down BNP headquarters in Naya Paltan only to leave after assurance from the Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. They then marched to the BNP chief's Gulshan office where supporters of other BNP leaders, who were left out in the final nominations, also gathered protesting the party's decision.
BNP chief's media wing member Shamsuddin Didar told Bangla Tribune they are suspecting that infiltrators are involved in the incident.
"It's natural for some to feel aggrieved for not getting nominations in a big party like BNP. We hope they will get over it," added Didar.
