Sudden tense negotiation between BNP and Jamaat

BNP-JamaatReportedly, there have been some tense bargaining between allies, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat on Saturday (Dec 8) over last minute seat allocation. It’s found that on Saturday night, BNP gave 22 seats to Jamaat which triggered the excitement.
On Nov 27, after discussion, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir gave 25 nomination letters to Jamaat. Later, they left out, Rabiul Bashar (Shatkhira-3), Fariduddin Chowdhury (Sylhet-5), Habibur Rahman (Sylhet-6).
Disgruntled, naebe ameer of Jamaat, Mia Golam Parwar, told Bangla Tribune, “We got final nomination in 22 seats though initially it was.”
The three seats taken from us are important, he said and added, “We may compete from a few other seats as independent candidates.”
Already, the Sylhet-5 seat has been given to moulana Ubaidullah Faruq of Jamiate Ulamaye Islam, a 20 party ally.
Jamaat’s 25 nominated candidates are: Aby Sayeed Muhammad Shahadat (Jessore-2), Abdul Wadud (Bagerhaat-3), Abdul Alim (Bagerhaat-4), Mia Golam Parwar (Khulna-5), Abul Kalam Azad (Khulna-6), Rabiul Bashar (Shatkhira-3), Abdul Khaleq (Shatkhira-2), Gazi Nazrul Islam (Shatkhira-4), Shamim Sayidi (Pirojpur-1), Fariduddin Chowdhury (Sylhet-5), Habibur Rahman (Sylhet-6), Shafiqur Rahman (Dhaka-15), Abdul Hakim (Thakurgaon-2), Mohammad Hanif (Dinajpur-1), Anwarul Islam (Dinajpir-6), Moniruzzaman Montu (Nilfamari-2), Azizul Islam (Nilfamari-3), Golam Rabbani (Rangpur-5), Majedur Rahman Sarkar (Gaibandha-1), Rafiqul Islam Khan (Sirajganj-4), Iqbal Hossain (Pabna-5), Motiur Rahman (Jhinaidah-3), Syed Abdullah Tahed (Cumilla-11), Hamidur Rahman Azad (Cox’s Bazar-2), Shamsul Islam, Chattogram-15.
It’s believed that Jamaat wants 25 seats. Golam Parwar, says: “there is no reason to stay away from elections, discussion is ongoing and we will reach a settlement soon.”
