The BNP is trying to find an excuse to stay away from the election by bringing allegations, says the ruling Awami League.
“They are well aware of having no chances to win the upcoming election with people’s votes,” General Secretary Obaidul Quader said on Saturday (Nov 24).
His remarks came while briefing the media at the party chief’s Dhanmondi offices.
“BNP is conspiring to destabilise the country by disrupting the administrative system by attacking public servants through fabricated stories against them in an effort to fish in troubled waters,” said the senior Awami League leader.
The Awami League fears that a ‘desperate’ BNP may come up with something very grave in the country like a “reckless driver”, said Quader, who serves as the road transport minister.
Replying to a query, he said the Awami League has finalised its candidates. “The list Grand Alliance candidates will be made public tomorrow or the day after.”
On the use of EVMs in the election, Quader said they want it to be used on a limited scale in the polls.
