BNP is interviewing polls aspirants for the third day on Tuesday (Nov 20)BNP has started interviewing polls aspirants for the third day on Tuesday (Nov 20) at the party chief’s Gulshan office.
Party’s acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has joined the interviews via video conference for the third day as well which sparked debate in the first two days of interviews.
BNP is interviewing polls aspirants of Chattogram, Sylhet divisions and Cumilla region on Tuesday.
Earlier on Sunday (Nov 18) and Monday (Nov 19), BNP nomination board interviewed aspirants from Rangpur, Rajshahi, Barishal and Khulna divisions.
Feni-1 BNP aspirant Dr Shahriar told Bangla Tribune, “Acting chairman and members of the nomination boards have told us that we are participating in the polls as part of our movement. We must do be united at our grassroot level towards that goal.”

“We must work for whoever the party nominates,” added Shahriar.


Earlier, BNP Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu collected nomination form on behalf of the party chief Khaleda Zia for the Feni-1 constituency.
When asked about this, Shahriar said, “I will not contest if madam does; if she doesn’t then I will run from Feni-1.”
Tarique’s participation in the aspirants’ interview from London via Skype has been criticised by the ruling party leaders who filed a complaint to the Election Commission (EC).
The EC in response said that they can do nothing about Tarique’s Skype conversation.
Later on Monday night, Skype was found to be inaccessible.
Telecoms Regulator, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) ordered all IIGs (International Internet Gateway) to block access to the site and its app for mobile devices late on Monday (Nov 19), a senior official at an IIG told Bangla Tribune on Monday on condition of anonymity.
The regulator, however, says no such directive was given to the IIGs.
Its Senior Assistant Director (media) Zakir Hossain Khan said that they did not instruct anyone to block social media.
BNP’s interview of aspirants will end on Wednesday (Nov 21) with candidates from Mymensingh, Dhaka and Faridpur regions.
