Awami League-led 14-party Alliance hold a talks with Jatiya Party Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina’s official residence Ganabhaban on Monday (Nov 5).The Awami League wants a meaningful general election for continuing the pace of development, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said in her opening remarks during the talks with the Jatiya Party-led coalition.
Jatiya Party chief HM Ershad led a 33-strong team at the talks on Monday at PM’s official residence the Ganabhaban.
“Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahmana liberated the country. He had transformed a war-torn country to a least developed nation and we have been able to graduate it to a developing nation,” said Hasina before thanking Jatiya Party for its cooperation.
The elections reflect the people’s right to vote, she said. “The people will exercise their franchises. The job of elected representatives is to serve the nation and its people. Our aim is to continue with pace of development.”
The Hasina-led 14-Party delegation included Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Obaidul Quader, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Hasan Mahmud, Dilip Barua and Mainuddin Khan Badal.
A special envoy to the PM with the rank and status of a Cabinet member, Ershad led a 33-strong delegation.
The dialogue kicked-off at 7:20pm after the JP delegation entered the PM’s official residence Ganabhaban at 6:30pm Monday (Nov 5).
The Jatiya Party leaders in the delegation include Senior Co-Chairman and Leader of the Opposition in the House Raushon Ershad, Co-Chairman GM Quader, Secretary General Ruhul Amin Hawlader, Join Secretaries General Liyakat Hossain Khoka and Nurul Islam Omar, Presidium members Anisul Islam Mahmud, MA Sattar, Kazi Firoz Rashid, Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, Delwar Hossain Khan, Syed Abu Hossain Babla, Sahidur Rahman, Sheikh Muhammad Sirajul Islam, Fakhrul Imam, Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Salma Islam, Sunil Shubha Roy, SM Faisal Chishty, Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, Mahsiur Rahman Ranga, Azam Khan, Solaiman Alam Sheth, Atikur Rahman, Khaled Akter, Shafiqul Islam Sentu and Shamim Haider Patwary.
The allies in the Ershad-led coalition will be represented by Bangladesh Ismai Front Chairman MA Mannan and Secretary General MA Matin, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Secretary General Mahfuzul Haque and Joint Secretary General Jalal Ahmed, National Islami Grand Alliance Chairman Abu Naser Wahed Faruq and BNA Chairman Sekandar Ali Moni.
