The ruling Awami League (AL) has expressed their interest to be allies with left wing parties, including the Bangladesh Communist Party (CPB).
AL General Secretary, Obaidul Quader, has called on the left parties to come to common grounds with them on some basic issues, including the Independence war and Bangabandhu.
His call to the left parties came during an event held at the capital on occasion of the founding anniversary of Bangladesh Samyabadi party.
Quader said, “The leftists are speaking in the same tune; many of them are saying that they will not side with any sectarian force.”
This is admirable, said the minister.
Let’s get together and make the minimum point the basis for maximum unity.
As a student, I participated in many political porgrammes alongside Communist party members, said the veteran AL leader, adding: “I have full respect for their ideology.”
Let’s be united on liberation war and Bangabandhu, Quader said.
