Dr Kamal Hossain.Gano Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain has once again made it clear that his party will not forage a national unity, if it includes the Jamaat-e-Islami, whose top leaders have been hanged for crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
On Sept 11, Dr Kamal also said his party would forge a national unity with the BNP only if it cuts all ties with the Jamaat.
Responding to query by journalists on the inclusion of Jamaat in the possible collation ahead of the national polls after a progamme in the city, Dr Kamal said, “No, they won’t have a place in the collation. In a word, the answer is ‘no’.”
Asked whether he would reconsider his terms on forging collation with BNP, he said, “There is no dispute over Jamaat’s anti-war time stance. We worked for the War of Independence while Jamaat’s supporters did otherwise.”
“It will be useful if we can know the people from Jamaat who worked in favour of the Liberation War,” said Dr Kamal.
