The ruling party also faces the daunting challenge of BNP’s ‘free Khaleda Zia’ campaign plus in-party feuds.
To ensure victory in the next polls, there has to be unity within the organization, said AL presidium member, Dr. Abdur Razzak.
Regular discussions are being held to unify the party; the PM has met party leaders from the grass roots to the top, he commented.
Four central leaders of AL told Bangla Tribune: “demanding Khaleda Zia’s freedom, the BNP may try to be active on the field prior to election; AL has to face that with political force.”
AL praesidium member, Kazi Zafrullah, told Bangla Tribune: “AL had always come to power in the face of overwhelming challenges; but with the support of the people, we will face these odds and come to power for the third time.”
Another top member, Faruk Khan, said: “AL is the party of the masses; we will overcome all challenges and come to power.”
Meanwhile, party joint general secretary, Abdur Rahman, said, when polls become imminent, conspiracies begin to take form.
“AL will tackle these and move forward.”
