Awami League’s campaign tour to north starts

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader speaking to the media before boarding the train at the Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka.The Awami League’s train tour to northern Bangladesh aiming to carry out electioneering as well as to inspire party activists and inform the people of the government’s development efforts has kicked-off Saturday.
General Secretary Obaidul Quader and several other central leaders of the party is now on board the Nilphamari-bound Nilsagar Express.
More than 11 rallies will be held at railway stations in Tangail, Pabna, Natore, Bogra, Jaipurhat, Dinajpur and Nilphamari districts, reports UNB quoting Awami League Rajshahi unit Organizing Secretary Khaled Mahmud Chowdhury.
Speaking to the media before departing from Dhaka’s Kamalapur Railway Station, Quader said the tour aims to reach the message of development projects carried out by the administration to grassroots level and strengthen the party.
He added that the organizational activities of the party will play an important role in making grassroots people aware about the “rumor politics” of BNP and Jamaat.
Quader, also the road transport minister, told reporters: "This is our election journey. The tour will continue.
“We will launch campaign on Sept 13,” he said adding that they will also start another campaign in Chittagong, Mymensingh and Kishoreganj by road.
He continued: "The upcoming election will be competitive and we have to take preparations for it. If there are any internal disputes, we have to solve them. This campaign will revitalize the grassroots leaders."
The delegation members include Awami League Joint Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Organizing Secretaries Ahmad Hossain, Abu Sayed AL Mahmud Swapan and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Cultural Affairs Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil and Biplob Barua.
