Awami League General Secretary and Cabinet Minister Obaidul Quader said that, BNP will face political crisis once the Aug 21 grenade attack case verdict is announced.
Alleging that BNP is directly involved in the attack, Quader has said, “The verdict is likely in September. Everyone but BNP is happy. They are worried because they were involved in the killing.”
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Quader made the comments after paying respect to Ivy Rahman at Banani graveyard on Friday.
Responding to a question, Quader told media, “That day, the killers conducted the operations under direct patronisation of the BNP government and planning by the Hawa Bhaban.
“They (BNP) are already in crisis, and they will in further turmoil, once the verdict is announced,” he added.
In response to another query Quader said, “…BNP destroyed evidence of that brutal attack at Bangabandhu Avenue. They didn’t let the FBI investigate. Scotland Yard wasn’t allowed to come. They orchestrated the Joj Miah drama. Then, they set up a farcical probe committee and their report was ridiculous. ”
He went on to say, “Whoever the killers were, they will be punished. We don’t have any intention to influence the trial. It will be fair and just. Whoever is found guilty must be punished.”
