National flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines ultimately decided to suspend the flights in the two routes to United Kingdom for the next seven days starting from Apr 1.
Md Mokabbir Hossain, managing director and chief executive officer of Biman Bangladesh Airlines said the flights have been suspended in the two routes --- Dhaka-London-Dhaka and Dhaka-Manchester-Dhaka --- considering the current coronavirus situation.
"Flights will be operated as per schedule in London and Manchester routes on Mar 29 and will return to Dhaka on Mar 31. The suspension will take effect after that," he said.
Previously, Biman Bangladesh Airlines had announced its decision to suspend all flights to international destinations, except Manchester and London, from Apr 1 over the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Coronavirus has created panic in countries around the world, resulting in mass lockdowns and flights being cancelled around the world.
Until now, Bangladesh has recorded a total of 48 Covid-19 cases and reported five deaths.
