Urging people not to panic over coronavirus, Director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora said no new case of coronavirus infection was reported in the country in the last 24 hours till Tuesday (Mar 24).
However, another person has died from the coronavirus, taking the total death toll from Covid-19 disease in the country to five.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country remained 39. However, seven of them have already recovered, IEDCR Director Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora said while revealing the latest coronavirus figures at a media briefing through online on Wednesday (Mar 25).
The deceased was aged around 65 years and was diagnosed on Mar 18.
He was suffering from hypertension and diabetes and was a family member of a foreign-returnee, she said. The man was transferred to Kuwait-Maitree Hospital on Mar 21.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the coronavirus or COVID-19 has reached 18,895 globally as of Wednesday.
It has so far infected 422,629 people around the world, according to worldometer.
Of them, 294,855 are currently being treated with 13,095 being in serious or critical condition.
So far, 127,774 cases had outcomes and of them, 108,879 (85 percent) recovered and 15 percent died.
The World Health Organization on March 11 declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic.
