AL’s Mohiuddin wins Dhaka-10 by-polls

Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin The ruling Awami League’s Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin has won the Dhaka-10 by-polls with 15,955 votes in 117 centres.
Returning Officer GM Shahtab Uddin announced the results at Dhaka Teachers Training College on Saturday (Mar 21).
Mohiuddin’s closest contender BNP candidate Sheikh Rabiul Alam received 817 votes. Pragtishil Ganatantrik Dal’s Kazi Mohammad Abdur Rahim got 63 votes, Muslim League’s Nawab Khaja Ali Hassan Ashkari got 15, Jatiya Party’s Haji Md Shahjalal got 97 and Bangladesh Congress’s Mizanur Rahman 18.
Elections to Dhaka-10 started at 9 am in the morning and ended at 5 pm.
The constituency fell vacant after Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh stepped down as the lawmaker to contest the Dhaka South city polls.
