University admission test. File PhotoUniversity Grants Commission, UGC, has decided to admit students to public universities through a coordinated admission test but whether Dhaka University will take part in that exam or not will be clear after a meeting of the university academic council discussion to be held on Monday (Feb 24).
Meanwhile, UGC has called a meeting on coordinated admission exam on Feb 26. University Teachers’ Association President ASM Maksud Kamal said, “The meet of the academic council will be held on Tuesday (Feb 25). At the meet, the decision will be taken on admission test and evening courses.”
The UGC draft plan on integrated admission exam says that for admission to first-year Honours, a student won’t have to sit for an admission exam and each university will take students as per their own conditions.
A probe committee on evening courses submitted a report to the vice-chancellor on Feb 9 in which recommendation was made to temporarily suspend evening courses.
On Feb 17, a meeting was held between the VC Akhtaruzzaman, pro-VC Muhammad Samad and the deans where the report on the probe was taken.
