A vested quarter is trying to spread rumor over the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), said Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Director Professor Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora.
“Anyone returning from China, the mainland of COVID-19, is not necessarily infected with the virus. A vested quarter is trying to spread rumors over this,” she said at a regular briefing at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday (Feb 22), reports BSS.
Noting that a house owner did not allow a China returnee tenant to enter the house, the official said, “It is a very serious matter. It requires responsible behavior. None should do any excess in the name of awareness”.
Informing that one Bangladeshi national aged between 40 and 41 has been detected with the COVID-19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), who did not visit China but came in contact with a China returnee, Flora said according to the health department of Abu Dhabi he is in stable condition.
Mentioning that the physical condition of one of the five Bangladeshis infected with the COVID-19 in Singapore is in critical condition, she said the remaining four are in stable condition.
South Korea and Japan are being monitored intensively as the people in these two countries are being detected with the COVID-19 in a larger scale after China.
