Around 40,000 personnel from several law enforcement agencies will be deployed during Dhaka City polls to prevent any untoward situation, says the Election Commission.
“Including armed and non-armed, 16-18 law enforcers will be posted at each polling station,” its Secretary Md Alamgir told yje media after a meeting with top law enforcers on Wednesday (Jan 22).
“However, additional security will be provided at important and voting centres deemed as risky,” he said.
The senior EC official said, intelligence agencies have identified some 17 to18 polling stations as risky.
The number of on-duty law enforcers will be increased two days before the polls, he added.
Noting that magistrates will be on duty during the polls, he said, “A good atmosphere is observed so far. It will improve during that time.”
