A festive atmosphere exists over the upcoming Dhaka City polls so far, says Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary.
“No significant incident has been reported so far,” Patwary told the media after a meeting with the Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday (Jan 22).
“The law enforcers are doing their best to gain the trust of the voters and candidates. We believe that we can retain this till the end,” he said.
Hoping for such atmosphere in remaining days before polls, he said, “Dhaka metropolitan police and other detective agencies are working to keep a wonderful environment [for polls campaign].”
Polls campaign is going on all over the capital ahead of Dhaka North and South City polls, which are scheduled for Feb 1.
