Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti celebrated in Nigeria

The event was celebrated to mark the 158th birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore and 120th birth anniversary of National Poet of Bangladesh Kazi Nazrul Islam, a press release said on Thursday (Nov 28).
In his welcome remarks, High Commissioner Md Shameem Ahsan highlighted the invaluable contribution of the two literary luminaries.
He said both enlightened the society through their literary works.
Ahsan specially mentioned about the secular aspect of their literary works which, he felt, are still more relevant now in the context of growing intolerance and violence in the world.
Dahlia Ahmed, Shalma Akbar, ShafiqTuhin, Kazi Muyeed Shahriar Shiraz Joy, Yeasmeen Ali, Manuel Soren and Avro Nokrek and dance artists Afrin Sultana Nipu, Rahina Zaman, Mohammad Rasel Ahmed, Shammi Yesmin Jhinuk and Sangeeta Chowdhury performed in the event.
