The Dhaka Lit fest 2019 has kicked off on Thursday (Nov 7) with a spiritual session of morning songs of Lalon.
Members of Snigdha Sadhu Sangha, a cultural organization oriented towards culture welfare, performed the songs at the lawn of Bangla Academy starting from 9 am to 9:45am. The rest of the sessions will run until 7:30pm.
Over a hundred foreign and 200 Bangladeshi writers, journalists and politicians are taking part in the three-day festival.
The festival will also announce the Gemcon Literary Awards winners at 4pm on Thursday.
Thursday’s sessions include “Fiction: Resistance or Refuge?" by Monica Ali at 12pm, “Memorable Moments: My Life in Theatre” by former cultural affairs minister and renowned actor Asaduzzaman Noor at 6:30pm.
