The High Court has set Oct 13 for hearing the bail plea of former Sonagazi OC Moazzem Hossain arrested under the Digital Security Act.
The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman set the date on Tuesday (Aug 27).
The case was filed against the OC after he recorded the statement of Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi and spread the video on social media.
Bangladesh Cyber Tribunal Judge Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain indicted Moazzem in the case on Jul 17. The court also fixed Jul 31 to start recording testimonies scrapping his bail plea once more.
Moazzem was handed over to the police on Jun 16 and produced before the cyber tribunal on Jul 17 after which he was sent to jail.
He had been on the run after a warrant was issued against him.
On May 27, the Cyber Tribunal ordered his arrest after the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) filed its probe report which found Moazzem guilty under sections 26, 29 and 31 of the Digital Security Act for spreading the video on social media platform Facebook.
