War crimes verdict against Rajshahi's Samad Tuesday

Rajshahi war crimes suspect SamadThe Internation Crimes Tribunal has fixed Tuesday (Aug 27) to announce the verdict against Md Abdus Samad Musa for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity in Rajshahi during the Liberation War.

A three-member panel of the ICT headed by Justice Md Shahinur Islam fixed the date on Monday (Aug 26). 

Earlier on Jul 8, the ICT kept the judgement on CAV, (curia advisari vult) after conclusion of arguments by the prosecution and defence. 

The testimonies of 15 prosecution witnesses were recorded in the case while no witnesses could be produced to testify in favour of the accused.

The tribunal indicted Musa who also went by the aliases of Firoz Kha and Musa Razakar, a resident of Puthia of Rajshahi, on Sep 9, 2018. 

He was shown arrested in the case on Jan 4, 2017 and produced in court following which the court sent him to prison.

On April 12, 2018, the investigation agency formally brought five charges against him, include looting and setting fire to houses in Pashchimbhag and Getia village, killing five people  and torturing 21 others.
