A court in Dhaka has remanded quota reform leader Rashed Khan for a second time.
The Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court granted police 10 days to quiz him in two cases on Sunday, when his five-day remand ended.
One of the cases is under the ICT act while the other was filed for violence on the Dhaka University campus in in April, Shahbagh Police Station General Register Officer (GRO) Mahmudur Rahman told Bangla Tribune.
A joint convener of the 'The Council for the Preservation of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights’, Rashed was arrested on Sunday (Jul 1) after a central leader of Bangladesh Chatra League (BCL) filed a case under ICT Act.
He stands accused of slandering the prime minister on social media as well as attempting to incite students.
On Monday (July 2), Court granted a 5-day remand order against Rashed.
He was later shown arrest in the case on violence in campus in April
As many as 2000 protesters vandalized the DU VC’s residence in the night of Apr 8. The chief security officer filed a case over the vandalizing at VC’s residence.
