Health Minister Mohammad Nasim’s instruction to the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council came on Sunday during a meeting, which went through the findings of two inquiries formed over the incident.
The ministry said in a media release that the meeting also decided to put up displays at all hospitals featuring a hotline to lodge complaints.
On Jun 28, Chattaogram-based journalist Rubel Khan’s daughter Rafida Khan Raifa was admitted to the port city’s Max Hospital with cold and throat ache. The three-year-old died while undergoing treatment the next day.
Amid allegations of negligence and wrong treatment by the family an inquiry led by the Chattogram civil surgeon was formed.
The probe found all three doctors guilty of negligence and recommended steps against them.
It said they found lack of experience and sincerity among the doctors when the girl began experiencing the intense seizures.
Though the nurses attending her were sincere in their efforts, they did not have the capacity or knowledge to handle the situation, it added.
On Sunday, the hospital was slapped a Tk 10 million fine following a RAB executive magistrate-led raid for several irregularities, including running operations with an expired licence.
