Twenty legal counsels of the Supreme Court (SC) initiated an efforts to give cost-free legal aid to the quota reformist leader and the Joint Convener of the Council for the Preservation of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights, Rashed Khan.
SC lawyer Barrister Jotirmoy Barua and Ainun Nahar Siddiqa told this Bangla Tribune on Tuesday.
Rashed was arrested in a case filed with Shahbag police on ICT Act on Jul 1.
A central committee leader of Bangladesh Chatra League (BCL) Al Nahian Khan filed a case under the ICT Act against Rashed.
Jotirmoy Barua said, “We have been providing legal aid to him since Jul 2. We will file a bail petition after ending the five-day remand given by the court.”
According to the information given by the Shahbag Police Station, total five cases have been filed over the quota reform protestation in which we got the one against Rashed, he added.
The SC lawyers have stepped up with the assistance as part of they declared to provide cost-free legal aid to the quota reformists to fight against the false cases and torture.
