Control dengue menace by Jul 30: HC to city corporations

A general view of the Supreme Court building of Bangladesh. File Photo/Sazzad HossainThe High Court has directed the officials of Dhaka North and South City Corporations to stamp out Aedes mosquitoes and take control over the ongoing Dengue menace by Jul 30.
The court also asked for a report on whether the insecticides are able to remove the mosquitoes within the stipulated time.
The High Court bench of Justice Tariq-ul-Hakim and Justice Md Shohrowardi passed the verbal order on Thursday (Jul 25) after the two officials, DSCC Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Md Sharif Ahmed and DNCC Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Md Mominur Rahman Mamun, appeared in the court.
Advocate Toufiq Inam Tipu moved for Dhaka North City Corporation while Advocate Sayeed Ahmed represented Dhaka South City Corporation.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Deputy Attorney General Kazi Mainul Hasan stood for the state.
