The High Court has issued a rule asking why the ninth wage board, formed for new pay structure for journalists and newspaper employees, would not be declared illegal.
The order by Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Ashraful Kamal came after the Newspaper Owners Association of Bangladesh (NOAB) moved a petition challenging its legality.
The court issued the ruled on Sunday, but the development was revealed to the press on Monday.
Secretaries to information and labour ministries and Wage Board Chairman Nazimul Haque Nasim have been told to respond by two weeks, Deputy Attorney General Ekramul Haque Tutul told the media on Monday.
NOAB argued in its petition that the board was formed by the information ministry illegally as it’s the labour ministry’s responsibility.
