RAB-1 has arrested the imam of Dakkhin Khan mosque, Idris Ahmed, 42, for raping several women and boys by intimidating them with tales of supernatural forces like djinns.

Idris had been teaching at a local madrasa for 18 years and is accused of raping 4 to 5 women and 10-12 teenage boys.

RAB-1 commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Sarwar Bin Kashem says that Idris had been doing this by instilling fear in his victims of djinns.

Idris was a fraud and in the name of providing remedies through talismans and invoking supernatural spirits, he abused women and boys, said Sarwar.

He used to record intimate moments with his victims on phone video and used them to secure their silence. A case has been lodged against Idris in Dakkhin Khan Thana.
