The High Court has ordered the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) to not publish any misleading reports or advertisements regarding pasteurised milk.
The bench of justices Syed Refaat Ahmed and Md Iqbal Kabir gave the order on Tuesday (Jul 9).
The court also called out the BSTI lawyer for his claim that it has expressed satisfaction at its report on the pasteurised milk of 14 brands.
“We have neither given any comments nor order regarding the test reports on the milk,” the court said to the lawyer.
“Yet you claimed that the court is satisfied which Pran group is using for their marketing in the media,” it added.
The court then asked him who will take responsibility if someone falls ill after having that mill.
It then told the BSTI to refrain from publishing anything involving the court unless it’s a written order.
On Jun 30, the BSTI lawyer told the media that the HC has expressed satisfaction on the BSTI’s test report on pasteurized milk which did not detect any harmful substance in the pasteurised milk of the 14 brands.
The Dhaka University Pharmacy Faculty and Biomedical Research Centre, on the other hand, after carrying out tests said that they found detergent in milk available across the country.
