The High Court ordered lower court concerned to dispose of graft case proceedings against BNP leader Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee within six months on Tuesday (May 14).

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the order scrapping criminal revision plea to quash the case proceedings.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Oct 9, 2014, filed the case with Dhaka’s Ramna Police Station for concealing information about wealth of Tk 1.3 million and amassing illegal wealth of Tk 14 million.

Dhaka special judge court on May 24, 2016, framed charges against Anee in the case and the BNP leader filed a revision plea with the High Court against that indictment order.

The High Court on September 1, 2016, stayed the proceedings of the graft for six months and issued a rule, asking authorities concerned to explain why Anee shall not be acquitted of the charges in the case.

The court today discharged that rule as well.
