Former PM and BNP chief Khaleda Zia is serving a five-year term at the old jailhouse on Najimuddin Road in Old Dhaka.Court has set June 20 for the submission of a probe report in a sabotage case filed against 14 people, including BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debobroto Biswas passed the order on Tuesday (Apr 14).

General Recording Officer (GRO) Sheikh Rakibur Rahman said,"The investigation report of the case was supposed to be submitted today [Apr 14]. However, the investigation officer of Gulshan police station failed to submit it, so the court set a new date."

According to the case documents, leaders and activists of Muktijoddha Parishad gathered in Dhaka’s Gulshan area for a demonstration on February 16, 2015.

The demonstrators—led by incumbent Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan—were planning to lay siege to the BNP chairperson’s office in the same area.

After holding a rally in Gulshan, the Muktijoddha Parishad activists—numbering in the thousands—began advancing toward Khaleda’s office. However, a bomb was hurled at the demonstrators.

Later, Dhaka Janbahon Union General Secretary Ismail Hossain Bachchu filed a case over the incident.

Some of the others accused in the case are BNP Vice Chairman Selima Rahman, and senior party leader Khandaker Mahbubur Rahman.
