Dhaka South city Mayor Sayeed Khokon has warned traders of facing prison if they sell adulterated foods during the holy month of Ramadan.
“If traders sell adulterated foods including iftar items not only they will be fined but also be thrown to the jail face prison,” he said on Tuesday (May 7).
Khokon was speaking to media after inaugurating five separate teams to monitor the kitchen markets under the jurisdiction of Dhaka South City Corporation at the city’s Chawkbazar.
Referring to essential prices fixed by the city authority, the mayor said “the monitoring teams will drive against food adulteration in addition to checking the essential prices.”
“Follow the holiness of Ramadan and sell hygienic food,” said Khokon before urging the traders to cooperate wholeheartedly.
