Noted rights activist Sultana Kamal has filed a general diary with police and sought security citing death threat from a militant outfit.
Kamal, a former advisor to caretaker administration, reported to the capital’s Dhanmondi police (GD no. 1071) on Saturday (May 4) evening, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Ramna Division) Maruf Hossain Sardar told Bangla Tribune.
According to the complaint, a militant group published a magazine in this March, where it narrated preparations to kill three prominent individuals including Sultana Kamal.
Forces have been sent to Kamal’s house and police would continue surveillance, said Dhanmondi police SI Harun Or Rashid.
The SI said the eminent citizen would be provided with all necessary security protection.
Police has opened an investigation, said DMP official Maruf.
