BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and four others have been sued for an alleged attack on pro-Awami League organisation Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddiqui.
Lawyer Rawshan Ara Shikder Daisy filed the case on behalf of Siddiqui with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufian Md Noman on Sunday (May 5).
The court recorded statement of the plaintiff and ordered the city’s Bangshal police to investigate the matter and report to it.
The other accused are BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, standing committee members Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Goyeswar Chandra Roy.
Five unidentified people are also made accused in the case.
According to the case documents, four to five men manhandled Siddiqui on Apr 30 at the city’s Tantibazar area. The men allegedly threatened him to withdraw all cases against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia as well as tore up his clothes.
Siddiqui further said that the goons took his Mujib Coat and Tk 2,200 from him and said they are giving him one month time to withdraw all the cases.
