A petition in High Court has challenged the validity of trying hundreds of military personnel in court martial during BNP founder Ziaur Rahman’s regime.
On Sunday (Apr 28), lawyer Motiur Rahman filed the petition on behalf of 88 affected families.
“Awami League’s advisory panel member Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun will argue for the petitioners in the court,” said Rahman.
The petition will be mentioned before the bench of justices FRM Nazmul Ahasan and KM Kamrul Kader for hearing, he added.
A number of military officers who fought the Liberation War were allegedly hanged by military tribunals during the regime of Zia, who became the centre of the country's politics after the assassination of father of the nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Aug 15, 1975.
