HC satisfied with Nusrat murder probe

Nusrat Jahan RafiThe High Court (HC) has said it is so far satisfied with the investigation of Nusrat's murder, which is being conducted by Police Bureau of Investigation (PIB).
An HC bench of justices FRM Nazmul Ahasan and KM Kamrul Kader made the remark while hearing a writ petition on Sunday (Apr 28).
Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Eunus Ali Akond filed a writ with the High Court on April 17, seeking the help of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to investigate the murder.
Earlier on Apr 23, during the hearing of the petition, the same bench said it does not feel the need to interfere in the investigation of Nusrat’s murder case, adding that there was no negligence from the government regarding the probe.
On Apr 6, madrasa student and Alim examinee Nusrat Jahan Rafi was set ablaze on the roof of her madrasa by alleged supporters of the madrasa's Principal Sirajuddaula — after she refused to withdraw a case she had filed against him on Mar 27 for sexual harassment.
The 18-year-old, with 80 percent burns on her body, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 10 after five days in the hospital.
A total of 23 people have been arrested in over Nusrat’s murder. Of them, eight gave confessional statements before the court.
