The Appellate Division has stayed a High Court order that had stayed the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)’s notice to former Jatiya Party Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader.
As a result, there is currently no legal bar to the investigation into allegations of corruption against Ruhul Amin, according to Advocate Kurshid Alam Khan.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, stayed the High Court order on Sunday (Apr 28).
On Apr 3, the High Court stayed the ACC’s notice to ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader.
Advocate Kurshid Alam Khan stood for the ACC, while Barrister Shafique Ahmed, Advocate AM Amin Uddin, and Mahbub Shafique stood for Ruhul Amin.
ACC Deputy Director Syed Ahmed had sent the notice summoning Ruhul for interrogation on allegations of corruption on Mar 28.
