Heatwave to continue until Friday

Mild heatwave is sweeping across Bangladesh which may continue until Friday, says the Met office.
The weather bulletin for Thursday (Apr 25) the Bangladesh Meteorological Department also predicted that the scorching heatwave is likely to sooth a little from Saturday.
HaetwaveA temperature between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius is considered mild heat wave while 38 to 40 degrees Celsius moderate heat wave and above 40 degrees Celsius is extreme heat wave.
The heatwave was apparent since Wednesday when the highest recorded temperature in the capital was 36 degree Celsius. On Thursday it rose to 37.1. The highest temperature across the country on Thursday was recorded 38 degree in Rajshahi, while in most places the average temperature was above 36.
Highest temperature in Dhaka Division was recorded 37.4 in Faridpur, in Chattogram the highest was recorded 37.3 in Sitakundu and Feni, in Mymensing, the highest was recorded 36.5 in Netrokona, in Sylhet the highest was recorded 36.7, In Rajshahi 38, In Rangpur 36.4 in Dinajpur district, In Khulna Division the highest was recorded 37 in Khunla, Jashore and Chuandanga and in Barishal Division the highest was recorded 37.3 in Patuakhali.
“The highest recorded temperature on Thursday was 38 degree which is likely to go up. A heatwave is sweeping all over the country. This weather is likely to continue until tomorrow,” Meteorologist Bazlur Rashid said.
He, however, added that rain is likely in some places on Saturday.
“Should it rain, the temperature will go down a little,” he said.
The highest temperature in Bangladesh in past two decades was 42.2 degrees Celsius in Jashore while the highest ever after independence was 45.1 degrees Celsius on May 30, 1972.
The weather forecast for the next 24 hours says, a low over Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining South Bay has intensified into a wellmarked low over the same area. It is likely to intensify into a depression during next 24 hours.
