Mission arranges departure of Bangladeshi student from Colombo

Tamima Tamanna Saba is a fourth year student of Applied Physics Department at the South Eastern University in Sri Lanka.Bangladesh High Commission in Colombo has arranged the departure of a Bangladeshi student who is studying in a university in the Eastern province of the country.

At her fourth year, Tamima Tamanna Saba is a student of Applied Physics Department at the South Eastern University.

High Commissioner Riaz Hamidullah told Bangla Tribune, “I personally talked to the Vice-Chancellor of the university to arrange a vehicle for her so that she can travel to Colombo.”

She is expected to be flying back to Dhaka from Colombo on Saturday, he said.

When contacted with Tamanna, she said that there was a vacation and the university was supposed to be opened on Monday but due to the blast in Colombo, the vacation extended.

“I and my friend are the only students who are now in the dormitory,” she said adding “Tomorrow (Friday) morning we will be going by car to Colombo, which is about eight-hour drive from here.”

A resident of Mirpur area, Tamanna has already informed her family about her coming back to Dhaka.

She said very few Bangladeshi students study in Sri Lanka and she knows one who studies in Colombo.

“I contacted with her and she is safe.”
