Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), which is probing the murder case of Feni girl Nusran Jahan Rafi, has taken two more suspects into custody.
The arrestees are Jabed Hossain, 19, and Shahdat Hossain Shamim who were arrested from Feni and Mymenshing respectively on Friday ( Apr 12) night and early hours on Saturday (Apr 13), said Feni PBI Additional Special Superintendent of Police Moniruzzaman.
With the latest arrests, the total number of people in custody is now 13 including madrasa principal Siraj-ud-Daula.
Eighteen year old Nusrat Jahan lost her battle for life on Wednesday (Apr 10) at Dhaka Medical College Hospital five days after an arson attack on her.
The victim, a resident of Sonagazi Municipality, went to the local Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa on Saturday (Apr 6) to sit for her Alim exams, equivalent to Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC).
Some burqa-clad assailants called her to the roof and threatened her to withdraw the case filed against the principal on charges of sexual assault. They set her on fire after pouring kerosene on her when she refused, according to the victim's family.
Police and others rescued her after hearing her cry and took her to Sonagazi Upazila Health complex from where she was shifted to the Feni General Hospital before being transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
