A woman, who suffered severe burns from a gas cylinder blast in Narayanganj, has died rising the incident's death toll to two.
Thirty-five-year-old Fatema Begum succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Monday (Apr 8), said DMCH police outpost in-charge Bacchu Mia.
“She suffered 97% burn," said Dr Partha Sankar Pal, resident physician of DMCH burn unit.
On Saturday, Fatema and her three children sustained burn injuries from a gas leakage fire at their home in Giridharapara area in the district’s Fatullah.
The victims, -- Fatema Begum, Saif Ali Beg, 15, Fariha Akhter Farzana, 12 and Safwan Ali, 5, were admitted to the DMCH’s burnt unit.
On them, Safwan succumbed to his injuries on Sunday (Apr 7).
Fire Service said the fire broke out when Fatema Begum lighted the match inside the kitchen.
