The High Court has turned the plea by senior BNP leader Moudud Ahmed challenging the trial proceedings of a case against him filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The bench of Justice Obaidul Hasan and S M Kuddus Zaman gave the order on Monday (Apr 8) after hearing the petition which also sought to freeze the trial proceedings.
The order means there’s no legal bar try Moudud on charges of amassing wealth beyond his known sources of income and withholding information about his assets.
Barrister Moudud Ahmed represented himself as Barister Abdullah Al Mahmud Masud assisted him.
Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan represented the Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) in the court.
The ACC filed the case in 2007, during the military-backed caretaker government’s emergency regime, with the Gulshan police in Dhaka involving assets worth nearly Tk 120 million.
