The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) have found the name of 189 high schools, college and madarasas that have no infrastructure facilities and only exist in documents, sources said.
The Director General of DSHE has written to the Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Division (SHED) on Apr 3 after receiving the name, recommending further decision on the matter.
On Nov 28, 2017, the DSHE sought information on institutions, which are recognized by the government but not visible, from its nine regional directors and 64 district officials.
The information was sought on ground of preventing militancy, question leak and drop-out, stopping commercialization of educating, and expanding domestic culture.
Speaking to Bangla Tribune, DSHE DG Mahabubur Rahman said “We sought the opinion of education ministry for next steps. These institutions will be closed then.”
Orders will be given soon to take necessary action, Salma Jahan, joint secretary (non-govt secondary) of the SHED told Bangla Tribune.
Speaking on the possible action after the ministry’s decision, DSHE Director (secondary) Abdul Mannan told Bangla Tribune, “Academic recognition and study permission of these institutions will be revoked.”
