Public servants posted in remote locations will get an extra allowance that will be similar to that of the hill tract allowances.
The Cabinet Division sent a directive regarding the matter to the public administration ministry and Finance Division on Tuesday (Mar 6).
Additional allowance for government employees working in 16 remote upazilas have been introduced as per the new directive.
Government employees working in hill tracts upazilas receive an additional 20% on their salary as per the National Pay Scale 2015. The amount is a minimum of Tk3,000 in sadar upazilas and maximum of Tk,5000 in other upazilas.
The Itna, Mithamoin, and Austagram upazilas in Kishoreganj; Sandwip in Chittagong; Kutubdia in Cox’s Bazar; Hatiya in Noakhali; Chauhali in Sirajganj; Rowmari and Char Rajibpur in Kurigram; Rangabali in Patuakhali; Monpura in Bhola; Dharmapasha, Shalla, and Dowarabazar in Sunamganj; Ajmiriganj in Habiganj; and Khaliajuri upazila in Netrakona are the newly-declared “haor, dwip, or char” upazilas.
